I will regularly post pages from my unpublished book along with other observations, stories, artwork, poetry, tidbits, odds and ends.
The first thing I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a writer. Even though I wanted to be a writer, I didn’t enjoy writing. It was difficult finding the right words to put down on paper. What came easy was talking. But who says they want to be a talker when they grow up?
What did you want to be?
I started writing poetry in elementary school. By the time I was in 5th grade, I had compiled a little booklet of verses which I gave to my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Fryer. Many, many years later, I wrote her a letter thanking her for the influence she had had in my life. At the time she was in her 80’s and wheelchair bound, but she wrote a letter back and along with it, sent the little booklet of poetry. She thought my children might like to see what I had written. I was touched that she kept that booklet all those years. In wanting to bless her, she blessed me.
