I am not some well-known writer or personality. I’m just one of God’s faceless, nameless people, just loving him and being as obedient as can be. I am a Christian; I’m not religious, but I am spiritual. I believe with all my heart that Christianity is about having a personal relationship with Christ and following him, and not about following meaningless rituals and rules. And being a Christian is about living and embracing life to the fullest. I want to be all that I was created to be and to be a pleasure to my Father in heaven.

As this website develops, you will learn a little bit about me and my large family, but it’s only a way to present the real protagonist in my life, my wonderful Father who I also refer to as Abba or Daddy.

We live in a rough part of our town. Our house has been shot at several times (that we know). We have been robbed too many times (always on the outside, not the inside.) A man was shot in our front yard. A prostitute was knifed and came to us for help. We have fed, clothed, and helped the homeless and less fortunate. Gang members and prostitutes have come to our home. This is not a once a year thing, this is the way we live....every day. It may not be normal for you, but it is for us. And since the neighborhood has been calmer the past few years, we now find ourselves in a season focused on intense prayer and revival.  I just don't know how to live any other way except to live life to the fullest. God has called us to this. Have we always embraced it? No. Sometimes we get tired. Sometimes we want to move. Sometimes we can sense danger, and we have to be discerning. And pray. And pray. And pray. And love. And obey. But we are safer in God’s will than out of it.

My family and I are very active people, but this is not who we are. We are human beings, not human doings. Our lives center on Jesus and the cross. People who know this understand what I am saying. People who don't, ask—please ask. Sadly, we as imperfect people have not always provided the best examples of Christ's love and sacrifice. We have substituted religion for relationship. Religion is not of God. It’s man's way of trying to quench, harness, codify, and control the presence and power of a living God who loves us dearly and wants to be an active part of our lives. I want people to know who he is and how very real he is.

If you are a friend, thank you for stopping by. If we have never met, I hope someday we will and become good friends. Always….

Gael

About Gael

gaelpix.png

Dr. Gael B. Hogan is a writer, artist, speaker and teacher. She is known for her refreshing transparency and expressive personality as she shares the journey of faith and God’s love for His people. Her heart’s desire is for people to know how truly real God is and to see lives healed and changed through an intimate relationship with Christ.  One aspect of her ministry is to see people fulfill their potential and to walk in the path and destiny God has created specifically for them.

Born and raised in the Spring-Ford area near Valley Forge, PA, Gael graduated from Cameron University with a B.A. in English, received her Master’s Degree in Humanities from the University of Oklahoma, and continued her education with a Ph.D. in Religion from Christian Bible College.

Gael’s first book, “Would You Do It For Me?”  is about living your faith honestly with a living God. As a fingerpainter, her art expresses the simplicity of childlike faith and joy. Locally, she is an ambassador for the Senior Games/Silver Arts of Lee County, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Gael was also the ambassador of the Sanford Brush & Palette Art Club as well as past president. She started the local pickleball program and was a former USAPA ambassador. But her greatest accomplishment and her greatest joy is being a wife, mother of six, mother-in-law to three, grandmother of fourteen, and spiritual mother to many. She and her husband, Mike, are senior ordained chaplains with International Fellowship of Chaplains and live in Sanford, N.C.
